ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
The young Frederik tries to help the girl Karen, who thinks her drowned father has gone to hell due to the inner missionary priest’s condemnations. In Harboøre, he does not meet the ‘enemy’ in the form of individuals, but a strong solidarity collective.
With SALT, we shut ourselves in behind the national borders after the loss of the greatness of the empire in the 1700s and focus on the notion of faith, liberalism and budding nationalism.
In a dense darkness with cracked voices in hymn singing and whispering prayer, we invite the audience out into the westerly wind surrounded by the contradictions between the lonely existential doubts and the fundamentalism of the collective.
Inspired by historical events and by Hans Kirk’s novel “The Fishermen”.
